One day when I was wandering around Bradenton’s Riverwalk looking for some photo subjects, I took this picture of the sidewalk simply because the morning dampness had accentuated the expansion joints and emphasized the “Patterns”. After looking at the image on my computer, I realized that I had captured some other “Patterns” – The pilings supporting the railroad trestle in the background.
While we were in Gainesville on Labor Day Weekend we visited the Butterfly Garden at the Florida Museum of Natural History on the University of Florida Campus. After walking through the garden, we walked around the indoor portion of the museum. These two pictures were “Shot Through Glass” and show the storage cabinets for the many butterfly specimens.

During this past year, Feld Entertainment Studios purchased the old Siemens and later General Electric Generator plant on US-301 in Ellenton/Palmetto. This is a huge facility and has plenty of room for all of Feld’s various entertainment productions. This facility is now the Global Home for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, Disney LIVE, Supercross, Arenacross, Monster Jam and the newest production, Marvel Universe Live.
There are two circus shows, the Red and the Blue shows, that travel by railroad throughout the U.S. over a two-year period. This is the year for the Red show to return home at the end of November and learn and practice a completely new show to take on the road again, opening in Tampa on January 1, 2015.
If you are at the “Right Place at the Right Time” you can see part of the 25+ car train parked along US-41 at Port Manatee or another section of the train including the animals stored on the Feld Entertainment property in Ellenton/Palmetto.
